Is your company using this checklist to increase sales?

1. Set up a sales incentive program Give your sales staff a reason to go out and sell, sell, sell. If they receive a vacation or Gift card for every X amount of revenue brought in this will drive motivation.

2. Encourage your sales staff to up-sell Essentially, up-selling involves adding related products and/or services to your line and making it convenient and necessary for customer to buy them. Identify an additional yet related problem and provide a solution.

3. Give your customers the inside scoop. If a customer is looking to purchase a product that is going on sale soon tell them about it. They’ll come back – and probably bring some friends with them. And you will have laid the foundation to build a long term customer.

4. Tier your customers. There should be a clear and obvious difference between regular customers and other customers – a difference that your regular customers perceive as showing that you value them. How can you expect customer loyalty if all customers are treated as “another sale”?

5. Set up a customer rewards program. There’s no reason that a small business can’t have a customer rewards program. It can be as simple as a discount on a customer’s birthday or as complex as a points system that earns various rewards. This aides customer loyalty and increases sales.

6. Distribute free samples to customers. Why do so many businesses include free samples of other products when you buy something from them? Simple. Because it can increase sales.

7. Advertise. Everyone knows that you must be seen to truly be recognized and what better way to do so than to advertise. There are so many effective forms of marketing available.
